Commodities People and Alpha Insight Merge
Commodity and energy markets to get bigger and better events as leading US and UK conference companies join to develop global events for commodity and energy trading, risk management and technology
London, UK – 12th January, 2022 – Alpha Insight have merged into Commodities People, unifying industry-leading Commodities People’s growing portfolio of commodity and energy trading-focused events with Alpha Insight’s live and virtual events and information products. This move will provide the group with a significantly-greater international footprint with well-established audiences and event programmes in the United States and Europe. Having pioneered the virtual event during early Covid and subsequently mastered hybrid virtual/physical events, the existing resources and talent in the two companies will now work together to produce even bigger and better events in energy and commodity trading hubs around the world.
The newly-combined company will operate under the Commodities People banner. Ben Hillary will retain his role as Managing Director of Commodities People, while Howard Walper, formerly President of Alpha Insight, will assume the role of CEO, Americas.
Founder and MD of Commodities People, Ben Hillary, said: “After our first discussion, it was apparent that our events, customer base and growth plans were so well aligned that this merger was the logical and organic next step in achieving our mutual business objectives. Commodities People are best known for their London-based Energy Trading Week and Commodity Trading Week, which consist of several individual conferences that cover different aspects of trading, including managing risk, trading excellence, operations and technology, regulatory compliance and more. Bringing Alpha Insight into Commodities People allows them to move into the North American market, using Alpha Insight’s established Energy Trading Risk Summit USA and Trading Technology Summit as anchor events; the series of online offerings from both companies will continue to be part of the offering.
While the Covid crisis has been highly disruptive for events companies around the world, both Commodities People and Alpha Insight found success in producing high-quality virtual events and having some of their most successful years to date.
